For immediate release September 16 2013
Mailismus is an ultra high-speed secure mail server designed from the ground up to handle large numbers of concurrent connections. It supports the full range of SMTP capabilities, including SMTP-Auth and SSL/TLS and is a fully compliant mail server, with comprehensive support for IMAP and POP3 (including SSL) as well as the core MTA functionality.
Version 1.6 is a major update which concludes the transition of Mailismus from a pure message switch to a full-spectrum mail server that supports IMAP and POP in addition to SMTP.
It also adds a browser-based GUI that permits Mailismus to be monitored in real time.
Mailismus utilises lightweight but effective network-based anti-spam techniques such as Blacklisting, Greylisting and DNS validation, along with tarpit-style measures like delayed error responses.
Every aspect of Mailismus operation is configurable (in one simple config file) and particular attention has been paid to logging, which captures everything from wire transcripts for troubleshooting, to formal audit logs that are suitable for permanent record-keeping.
Although Mailismus is designed for the most demanding backbone environments, it also offers features (and licencing options) that appeal to the individual or home user, including a POP Retriever that can download messages from multiple email accounts and consolidate them in one local mailbox (which can then be accessed via the integrated IMAP or POP servers).
The benefits of this include rapid access to existing messages and ease of backup.
